Weeshop is an app that helps users in Europe make informed decisions about the food they buy in supermarkets, providing insights and details on each ingredient to assess healthiness, sustainability, manufacturing quality, and social impact. The founders’ idea was to enable users to balance depth and complexity of information with an easy-to-use interface that could be integrated into daily lives smoothly.
They already had a regular user base, but they wanted to grow, so on the one hand, they needed to attract more customers to become a really profitable startup; on the other hand, they needed to appear trustworthy to partners like large retail chains and investors. When we came on board, we realized their visual identity appeared generic and fragmented, so we suggested refreshing it to align with the new phase the startup was going through. Our idea was to bring to the surface all the essential elements that characterized Weeshop’s identity and strategically use them to create a coherent feel.
Visual Identity
Weeshop aimed to become the most used health app in Europe. To do so and differentiate from competitors, we decided to position it as the most scientifically grounded option to understand food safety and healthiness. Therefore, the new visual identity balanced trustworthiness and approachability, depth with a modern hi-tech feel, so that the overall image conveyed both scientific precision and accessibility. The identity was also scalable and included a new logo, visual guidelines, and a colour palette, differentiated between social media channels and corporate assets to better serve the two audiences.
Organic Content
At the same time, we helped Weeshop visually connect their different social media content and establish a clear color system to differentiate between various topics. We also produced and edited content in collaboration with independent creators and influencers.
Advertising
Finally, we created tailored ads to achieve two different goals: increase conversion rate and app downloads, and enhance brand awareness. The first set of ads was made up of direct response marketing content, while the second one included the campaign called Choose, Weeshop, which aimed to empower people to take agency in their grocery shopping decisions, positioning the app as an essential tool to navigate the complexity of food labels.
